Rooftop Pod Hinge - Sorted!

With the 2026 Camp Quality esCarpade now just three weeks away, Damian figured he had better extract the digit and get the rooftop pod hinge fixed!

Of course, they don't make replacement hinges for the old rooftop pod on Bluey, so Damian found a somewhat similar hinge at Bunnings...  It's not even either side like the old hinge was, but it's got the space in the middle!

First, remove all the crap that's currently using the rooftop pod as a makeshift shelf.

Make a backing plate/washer to give a bit of strength for the bolts/nuts to pull against.

Lining up the first part - tucked to the inside.

After much cursing and aggravation, it was attached!  Next stop - attaching the hanging hinge onto the top of the clamshell...

Damian decided slightly longer bolts would give him a bit more room to maneuvre!

Another plate for strength and so the nuts don't pull through.

Voila!  Just two short hours later, one hinge has been replaced!

And amazingly, it even works!

Can't ask for much more than that from a random hinge that almost looked the part and somehow has worked well enough for now!

Throw a quick squirt of paint on it to try to hide the silver... might need another coat!

Will the hinge survive the 3000km or so of esCarpade abuse?  Who knows!?!  Damian will sensibly pack some cable ties just in case!
