This blog is all about my "Bluey" themed vehicle that I will be driving in my 15th Camp Quality esCarpade in 2026! Camp Quality's charity bash for cars 20+ yo brings positivity, fun and laughter back into the lives of kids facing cancer!
So, funny story about the fancy schmancy safety flag donated by Minecorp Australia... It lights up!
Of course, that means running some wiring and a relay to a switch in the dashboard...
Naturally, the wiring can't be run without removing half the front of the car first! (Alright, just the plastic cover under the bonnet.)
Here's a wire that Damian fed through and crimped an end on! Conveniently, the right hand switch in the panel is unused, but already wired up ready for an output wire to be attached...
Of course, the battery was in the way for where the wires needed to run, so out it came also!
Using the magic plastic snake to feed/guide the wires through.
And through the magic of the interwebs, voila! One lit up safety flag! (You'd think Damian could have cleaned the windscreen first, but no.)
Safety flag and safety lights (again, only one strobe is lit up because they alternate).
There you go, a better shot of the safety flag!
And the dash put back together also, plus some repairs on the UHF microphone (see the black tape magically holding it together).
Damian still needs to fix the hinge on the rooftop pod at some point, but locating a suitable hinge is proving quite tricky.
Quick video to finish off - test driving down Damian's driveway (after taking stuff up to the bin).
And that's a wrap! Under six weeks till the 2026 Camp Quality esCarpade... the blog posts will start coming thick and fast now, so stay tuned!
